As expected, Boston College is going with experience in 2010.

Eagle football coach Frank Spaziani has named sophomore quarterback Dave Shinskie the starter for the Eagles’ season opener Sept. 4 against Weber State.

"Dave had a very good camp," Spaziani said. "He is the incumbent, and we
won games with him last year.  He has improved and he is certainly
deserving."

Shinskie started 10 games last season as a freshman. This summer, he beat out fellow sophomore Mike Marscovetra as well as freshmen Chase Rettig and Josh Bordner for the starting nod.

The 25-year-old came to The Heights last season after playing professional baseball for seven years, setting BC freshman passing records with 2,049 yards and 15 touchdowns. He completed 149-of-288 passes (51.7 percent) with 14 interceptions
