Brett Favre Says Vikings Already Know If He Is Returning

Brett Favre has trouble making up his mind.

The world came to know this through two different retirements, and was then reminded of it Monday morning when it was reported that Favre was retiring. Hours later, head coach Brad Childress denied he knew anything about the 40-year-old quarterback’s intentions and claimed he hadn’t spoken with him.

In the days since, alleged text messages to teammates from Favre announcing his retirement have been confirmed and denied, the Vikings have reportedly contemplated offering him more money. Still, Favre has said he has yet to make up his mind.

Yet, as Yahoo! reports, Favre did offer one smidgen of information: the Vikings know what his plans are.

"I talked to them. They know,” Favre told reporters.

This could appear to mean a whole lot more than it does. Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell and agent Bus Cook both confirmed that “if Favre is healthy, he will play this season.”

Given that his ankle still bothers him after surgery and that he has 19 seasons of NFL wear and tear on his body, only Favre can determine if he is healthy.

This means the Vikings — and the rest of the NFL — are once again at the whim of Favre.
