Carl Crawford Believes 2010 Rays Better Than 2008 AL Championship Team

Carl Crawford Believes 2010 Rays Better Than 2008 AL Championship Team The Tampa Bay Rays have been a team to reckon with throughout the past few years, and in 2010 they've been the team to beat for the Boston Red Sox.

Back in 2008, the Rays defeated the Red Sox in the ALCS to advance to the World Series. They were defeated by the Phillies in five games, but their progress hasn't slowed since then. Rays outfielder Carl Crawford believes this 2010 team, which is currently tied with the Yankees atop the AL East, is better than the 2008 squad.

Crawford caught up with NESN's Heidi Watney — before he was scratched with the stomach flu — during Red Sox Gameday Live to discuss his team's strengths.

"That was a good team," Crawford said of the 2008 Rays. "But I think this team is a little bit better, pitching-wise and our offense is better. A lot of our guys experienced the '08 season and we've got a better feeling on what to do this year and it's nice to have that experience."
