Connecticut Little League Defeats Massachusetts, Will Play New Hampshire in Semifinals Thursday on NESN

Never say die.

With a late surge, Connecticut’s Little League state champions beat Massachusetts’ state champs 9-8 in East Regional Tournament action on Wednesday.

Massachusetts held a 5-1 lead through three innings, but Connecticut prevailed thanks to three runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Patrick O’Leary picked up the win for Connecticut, as he pitched the final three innings and gave up just one run. O’Leary also went 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored.

The win makes Connecticut the No. 2 seed, and they will play No. 3 New Hampshire on Thursday at 5 p.m. on NESN. Massachusetts was eliminated from the tournament.
