Everyone in Boston seems to be excited about 15-time All-Star Shaquille O’Neal joining the Celtics – even Red Sox slugger David Ortiz and manager Terry Francona.

"Shaq is always fun to watch," Ortiz told the Boston Herald.

The 34-year-old admits, though, that he’s never met Shaq before, something that he intends to change this season.

Ortiz frequently attends Celtics games at the TD Garden, so it is inevitable that the two sports icons will eventually cross paths. Ortiz even reportedly plans to attend more games this season, and is pleased with the Celtics' decision to bring back the same core for another run at an NBA title.

The Red Sox' designated hitter also said he figures that he’ll get along with Shaq, which wouldn’t come as a surprise given the jovial history of the two.

As for Francona, he's just as excited.

According to the Boston Herald, the Red Sox' skipper immediately asked when Shaq’s introductory press conference will take place.

"I think the year just got more interesting," Francona said. "I'm sure [reporters] are thrilled. I’m excited about it."

No one can say for sure what Shaquille O’Neal is going to bring to the defending Eastern Conference champions this season, but he undoubtedly has everyone standing up and taking notice that the "Big Daddy" has arrived.
