The rain that passed through the Boston area Thursday afternoon has caused some major issues at Fenway Park. Both dugouts are flooded and the Red Sox, who already had to take their batting practice into the cages inside, were forced to scramble when that area become overwhelmed with water as well.
Workers are busy pumping water out of the dugouts and in the concourse under the stands, which was also overcome by the wet stuff.
Just before 5 p.m., Dustin Pedroia walked into the Red Sox clubhouse declaring that the batting cages were flooded. Clubhouse attendants then sprang into action to rescue the bats and other equipment that lay down there in between the dugout and clubhouse.
This is the second time downpours have caused flooding this year. The Futures at Fenway doubleheader on July 10 was cut short when areas of the park became enveloped in several inches of rain.
Team officials said that weather conditions are expected to improve throughout the evening Thursday. The rain had ceased just a few minutes after 5 p.m.
