Hitting Streak, Three Home Runs Earn Adrian Beltre Top Dawg of the Week Honors It may have been an up-and-down week for the Red Sox, but third baseman Adrian Beltre had a very strong week. So strong, in fact, that Jerry Remy picked Beltre as his Top Dawg of the Week.

The third baseman finished the week hitting .370 with three home runs and nine RBIs. Beltre continues to have an amazing year for the Sox as he’s now hitting .336 with 20 home runs and 70 RBIs.

Beltre got his week off to a fast start by launching two home runs during Monday’s game with the Indians. The Red Sox lost that game, but Beltre did all he could to make sure the Red Sox salvaged at least a split with the Tribe when he hit a grand slam in Boston’s 6-2 victory.

He’s also continued his hot hitting through the Sox’ series with the Yankees. With a double on Sunday night, Beltre extended his hitting streak to 14 games.

Earlier this week, we asked you the fans to tell us who you thought would be the Top Dawg of the Week. Without Beltre on the list, you picked Kevin Youkilis to be the Top Dawg. Of course, Youkilis fell out of contention when he injured his thumb in the Cleveland series, an injury that lead to season-ending surgery.

Youkilis received just over 29 percent of the vote with pitcher Josh Beckett (28.7 percent) and designated hitter David Ortiz (21.1 percent) following behind.

Every Monday, NESN.com will release which Red Sox players are  the Top Dawg contenders. The following Sunday, Jerry will pick a Top Dawg of the Week.

But Jerry also wants to hear from you, Red Sox Nation, and find out who you think is the week’s Top Dawg for the Red Sox. Every Monday until Sunday, fans can vote for their Top Dawg of the Week. At the end of the week, we’ll see if Jerry’s Top Dawg matches up with Red Sox Nation’s Top Dawg.
