Jed Lowrie Rescues Red Sox With 11th-Inning Walk-Off, Earns Top Dawg Honors Coming off a 16-2 trouncing at the hands of the Blue Jays this past Friday, Boston desperately needed a win.

The Sox jumped out to an early lead on Saturday, but Toronto came back to force extras. In the 11th inning, Jed Lowrie stepped up to the plate as a pinch-hitter and connected for a walk-off bomb — Red Sox 5, Blue Jays 4.

Lowrie, though, contributed not only in Saturday's game but also throughout the entire week. In fact, his OPS for the past seven days is a staggering 1.021. With Dustin Pedroia again on the disabled list, Lowrie has stepped up mightily, and is on pace for career bests in an injury-plagued season of his own. He is batting .333 in August.

The fans, however, chose Adrian Beltre as their Top Dawg for the week.

Every Monday or Tuesday (depending on when the Red Sox series starts), NESN.com will release which Red Sox players are the Top Dawg contenders. The following Sunday, Jerry Remy will pick a Top Dawg of the Week.

But Jerry also wants to hear from you, Red Sox Nation, and find out who you think is the week’s Top Dawg for the Red Sox. Fans can vote for their Top Dawg of the Week. At the end of the week, we’ll see if Jerry's Top Dawg matches up with Red Sox Nation's Top Dawg.

Here are this season's Top Dawgs.
