The Red Sox had just dropped their second-straight walkoff win on Friday night, an extra-inning loss at that, leaving the team's best relievers — Jonathan Papelbon and Daniel Bard — unavaibale for Saturday's contest.
Enter Jon Lester.
The big left-hander picked up the Red Sox yet again, going eight scoreless innings against the Rangers deep in the heart of Texas on a night where the game-time temperature was an unbelievably scorching 102 degrees.
It was Lester's second dominant start in a row following up an effort Monday in the Bronx in which he threw seven shutout innings against the Yankees to help the Red Sox gain a split of that series.
Check out the video below for what Lester had to say about his gutsy eight-inning effort on W.B. Mason's Red Sox Extra Innings.
