LeBron James’ Girlfriend Did Not Want to Move to Miami Initially

When LeBron James made the decision to play with the Miami Heat, he wasn’t just "taking his talents" to South Beach.

He also was taking his legacy, his abundance of sports cars and, most importantly, his longtime girlfriend, Savannah Brinson and their two kids, LeBron Jr. and Bryce.

While it may have seemed like Miami was LeBron’s first choice all along, he probably had to convince Brinson, who wasn’t sold on the idea at first.

"Personally, Miami was not my favorite place," Brinson told Harper’s Bazaar in a recent interview. "Vacationing there is great: You go for three days and get some sun, and it's time to go home."

But Brinson eventually warmed up to the idea. Literally.

"When they told me it doesn't get any colder than 50 degrees, that sold me," Brinson said. "We get below-zero weather in Cleveland. … I can't wait to have a sunny Christmas. It will definitely be an adjustment, but we'll make it. We're not complaining."

James and Brinson still will maintain a residence in Akron, where LeBron Jr., 5, will be starting kindergarten in the fall.

"Cleveland is home," Brinson says. "Nothing is going to change about that."
