Marco Scutaro Assumes Leadoff Role in DL-Bound Jacoby Ellsbury’s Absence

With Jacoby Ellsbury going to the disabled list again, the Red Sox turn to Marco Scutaro to resume his role as the leadoff hitter as they take on Texas on Saturday night.

Ellsbury reinjured his left side in Friday's game during a collision at first base. He received a CT scan in Los Angeles on Saturday that revealed further damage near where he suffered broken ribs earlier in the year.

Scutaro is no stranger to the role he may have to hold down for the remainder of the year. He has hit .276 with all seven of his home runs in 98 games as the leadoff man.

With Scutaro atop the order, J.D. Drew returns to the No. 2 spot. He has homered four times in his last four games.

Victor Martinez
remains at catcher a day after fouling a ball off his foot. He is 2-for-3 in his career against Rangers starter Colby Lewis, one of several Red Sox hitters to see some positive results vs. the righty.

Adrian Beltre is 4-for-5 against Lewis, David Ortiz has two home runs in eight at-bats and center fielder Eric Patterson is 3-for-8 with a home run and a triple.
