His NBA career has barely gotten off the ground, but Miami Heat guard Kenny Hasbrouck has already been slapped with his first league suspension.
Hasbrouck has plead guilty to driving while intoxicated, an incident that occurred back in February when was still a student at Siena College in upstate New York. Hasbrouck was signed by the Heat in March, but never played a game due to the DUI investigation.
It was after the plea that the Heat delivered the suspension, which will serve in the form of two games without pay.
The guard still does not have a guaranteed spot on Miami's roster, however, and this event does not help his case when battling others for a position on the team. Hasbrouck has a partial contract with the team that will not be fulfilled unless he makes the roster.
Hasbrouck's suspension comes on the same day as two other young NBA stars. Brandon Rush of the Indiana Pacers has received a five-day suspension for violating the league's anti-drug policy, while Tyreke Evans of the Sacramento Kings will be suspended one game without pay for driving recklessly in California.
