Mike Lowell Takes Commanding Lead as This Week's Top Dawg of the Week Everyone's favorite fill-in, Mike Lowell, is chipping in with whatever offense he can offer, and the city of Boston couldn't be happier.

Lowell has had at least one hit in all but one game since rejoining the Red Sox on Aug. 3 and is an early favorite to capture Jerry Remy's Top Dawg of the Week award.

Lowell belted a solo shot in the eighth inning against the Blue Jays on Tuesday night to give the Sox the lead and eventual win in the series opener. It was Lowell's second homer since returning and he now has five RBIs and four runs scored in seven games.

Trailing Lowell in Top Dawg voting is rookie Ryan Kalish, who has been a spark plug in the outfield and at the dish as he owns a .367 batting average through his first 30 at-bats. Kalish not only spanked his first career homer over the weekend, he's scored a run in each of his last two games.

Also receiving votes are outfielders J.D. Drew and Jacoby Ellsbury, who swiped four bags in Monday's win over the Yankees to tie Remy's club record for most steals in one game.
