Washington Nationals Fan Uses Metal Beer Bottle as Shield from Line Drive, Gets Doused

It's been a big deal when fans get nailed in the stands.

First, in an episode of karmic correction, a Yankees fan using a cellphone was clocked by a ground-rule double. Then, a wimpy boyfriend fled while his girlfriend got hit by a foul ball at an Astros game. (She dumped him.)

Finally, a woman has stepped up to the plate and been vigilant about protecting herself from a wayward liner. While those metal beer bottles are universally overpriced, they sure can be useful. At Thursday's Nationals-Marlins game, a fan was in the path of a line drive, but parried the ball away with her metal Miller Lite.

In the process, she received quite the foam wash, but at least she stayed safe.
