Trade rumors regarding Marc Savard may have dissipated over the past month, but they surely have not gone away entirely.

According to ESPN, the Bruins are "actively shopping" Savard, though the investigation of his contract has made the situation more difficult.

In light of the NHL disallowing Ilya Kovalchuk's front-loaded contract, Savard's contract is also being looked into for "violating the spirit of the CBA."

The Bruins are about $3 million over the salary cap, and Savard is scheduled to earn $4 million annually. Earlier this offseason, Savard expressed his frustration regarding the rumors.

"I was really focused on staying [in Boston] the rest of my career,"
Savard told the Ottawa Sun. "To hear all this stuff this summer bothered me
inside more than anything else."

Savard had just 33 points in 41 games last season after averaging 90 points in the previous four campaigns.
