Knicks fans may be breathing a sigh of relief. It looks like Isiah Thomas isn't going to be re-hired by the team after all.

ESPN.com is reporting that Thomas has decided that he is withdrawing his acceptance to becoming a consultant for the Knicks, despite recently being re-hired by the team.

Thomas had planned to keep his current head-coaching job at Florida International University while serving as the consultant for the same team that fired him from his position as head coach and president just two years ago.

However, allegedly citing concern over NBA conflict-of-interest-laws, Thomas withdrew his acceptance for the position with the Knicks.

The NCAA had approved Thomas' decision to occupy both roles, but the NBA was still investigating whether or not it would break its rules. The league had not made a decision when Thomas decided to rescind his acceptance.
