Jacoby Ellsbury and Jason Varitek are both looking for further medical advice to find out when they may be able to return to the Red Sox.

Ellsbury, returning to the DL after re-injuring his ribs on a collision last Friday in Texas, saw Dr. Lewis Yocum on Tuesday in Southern California, though the ramifications of that exam are still unknown.

Varitek recently had his broken foot scanned, and while the scan showed significant healing, he is not 100 percent and is still experiencing lingering soreness.

Despite the fact that Varitek is not yet fully healed, manager Terry Francona did remark that the Red Sox captain has seen "a lot of improvement."
