Since 2002, the NFL has started the year with the kickoff game, representing the first NFL game of the season hosted by the defending Super Bowl champions. Standard for any NFL special event, the game also ties in the entertainment factor, bringing in big names from the music industry to perform in the pregame ceremony.

This year will be no different, with two of the industry's most popular music acts serving as the headliners for this year's kickoff game in New Orleans. The Saints will host the Minnesota Vikings at the Louisiana Superdome on Sept. 8 with Taylor Swift and Dave Matthews Band performing during the pregame festivities.

The concert, featuring both Grammy-winning acts, will air live from Jackson Square in New Orleans on NBC and the NFL Network.

The Patriots have hosted the annual kickoff game twice since its inception at Gillette Stadium, with artists such as Elton John, Destiny's Child, Carlos Santana, Toby Keith and Ozzy Osbourne performing at the events.
