This season, the MLB has witnessed its fair share of no-no's from A's lefty Dallas Braden's perfect game to Rockies ace Ubaldo Jimenez's no-hitter. There have been five total, two of which came in the form of perfect games.
While the Red Sox have yet to spin one this season — although John Lackey and Daisuke Matsuzaka came close earlier this summer — the club has had its moments in the no-hitter spotlight.
And Jason Varitek has been a big reason why.
The most recent no-hitter came out of the left arm of Jon Lester, who no-hit the Royals on May 19, 2008.
Lester struck out nine and walked two in the win and threw 130 pitches. The first person to greet him at the mound after he fired a 94-mph heater by Alberto Callaspo was (who else?) Tek.
