UMass Baseball Alum Nick Gorneault Named Triple-A PCL Player of the Week

The Pacific Coast League announced Monday that Springfield, Mass., native and former UMass baseball standout Nick Gorneault has been named PCL Player of the Week for August 9-15.

This is the first Player of the Week award for the Salt Lake Bees outfielder, who previously won the award on Sept. 5, 2005.

In six games, Gorneault hit .435 (10-for-23) with three home runs, three doubles and 10 RBIs. Gorneault had four multi-hit games and went a perfect 4-for-4 with two home runs and five RBIs in a 9-4 win over Nashville on Aug. 14.

The 31-year-old, who played for the Manchester Fisher Cats (Double-A Toronto) in 2009, owns a .372 batting average in the month of August and a.333 average since the All-Star break.
