Victor Martinez, Jed Lowrie Must Stay Hot With Dustin Pedroia, Jarrod Saltalamacchia Out At this point, "when it rains, it pours" doesn't even do the Red Sox 2010 season justice.

Just days after Jacoby Ellsbury returned to the DL following a long-awaited return, Dustin Pedroia has done the exact same thing.

In the season of freak injuries, Jarrod Saltalamacchia has joined the party, hospitalized with a leg infection until Monday.

Luckily, the other options at their positions are playing exceptionally well. Jed Lowrie is batting .369 in August with a 1.183 OPS, and Victor Martinez is batting .381 over the past week.

Kevin Cash, Eric Patterson, Jason Varitek and Hideki Okajima remain on the DL, though Okajima and Varitek are moving towards their returns.

Mike Cameron is planning to have surgery soon and has all but officially announced that his season is over. Ellsbury and Kevin Youkilis are also out for the season.

Darnell McDonald and Daniel Nava have also continued their strong play as replacements, with McDonald batting .357 in August.

In total, the team has lost 788 player-games to the DL in 2010.
