Braylon Edwards may be starting Sunday night's contest in Miami if he had only chosen to drive drunk in the afternoon or evening.
Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum, in a radio appearance Sunday morning, explained that Edwards not starting the day's game isn't because of his arrest, but because he was out late, ESPN.com reports.
"We felt he didn't deserve to start based on the fact that … not for the arrest as much as going out and being out until five in the morning," said Tannenbaum.
The Jets didn't have a curfew that night, nor did they have practice the next day.
Tannenbaum went on to explain that no team has benched a player because of a DWI in recent years.
He went on to say that he sees big things coming from Edwards against the Dolphins.
"If we go by the way he practiced, I expect him to play exceptionally well," Tannenbaum said.
