Buck Showalter Seeks 900th Career Win Against Red Sox

Buck Showalter Seeks 900th Career Win Against Red Sox If someone asked you which AL East team has posted the best record since Aug. 3, you would probably guess the Rays or the Yankees.

And you would be wrong.

Ever since his introduction as team manager on Aug. 3, Buck Showalter has led the Baltimore Orioles to a 17-10 record in the month, turning around from an 8-19 record in July, and a 9-17 mark in June. In fact, August has been the only month that the team has posted a winning record in 2010. The team credits their success to the management of Showalter.

Showalter, who has been named the AL Manager of the Year twice, is on the brink of his 900th career win. Should the Orioles collect a win against the Red Sox on Wednesday night, he will reach the milestone.

When asked about the success of the team by NESN's Heidi Watney, Showalter credited the team's improving health as the driving factor behind their turnaround this month.

"We got healthy, more than anything else," Showalter said in a pregame interview. "I think if you asked any general manager or manager at the start of the year the one thing they'd like to have as a given is a healthier people."
