Giants, Padres, Braves, Phillies in Dogfight for Three NL Playoff Spots The Cincinnati Reds have a six-game cushion in the NL Central at 79-59. That’s just about the only piece of the National League playoff puzzle that has any definition whatsoever.

In fact, five teams have between 78 and 80 wins and 59 and 61 losses. The Reds, Padres, Phillies, Braves and Giants could all end up with home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, but any of the latter four could be left out entirely.

The Phillies and Giants are streaking right now, while the Braves and Padres are slumping, but that was far from true just a couple of weeks ago.

The American League seems to be pretty settled at this point, but in the senior circuit, anything is possible.
