BG5 Goes From AVP Beach Volleyball Tour to Country's Hottest Girl Group BG5, a.k.a. The Beach Girl5, are making quite a name for themselves this season on Keeping Up With the Kardadashians, but their big break actually came through beach volleyball.

No, the BG5 isn’t an up-and-coming girl group of professional athletes. The five women — Brooke Adams, Noreen Juliano, Mandy Jiroux, Laura New and Dominique Domingo — met when they were hired as entertainment for the 2008 AVP tour.

Known as the Beach Girlz at the time, they served as a dance team on the 18-city beach volleyball tour.

As of August 2010, the AVP has become defunct, ending its operations after 27 years. The BG5, though, live on. The Pussycat Dolls-esque group will be releasing its new single “Scratch” later this fall.

With the help of publicity masters like the Kardashians and the same producers who made hits for Miley Cyrus and Mariah Carey, BG5 seems well-situated to be playing much bigger sporting events in the not-so distant future.

The Albert Pujols sweepstakes is on?

“Between
now and the 2011 Pujols sweepstakes (assuming the Cardinals don’t ink
him to the biggest deal in intergalactic history) the following will
need to go: Beltre, Ortiz, Papelbon, Drew, Cameron, Wakefield, Varitek,
Okijima, Matsusaka). We then offer Pujols 200 million to break all the
records in Fenway.”
