Hurricane Earl Gets Best of Boston as Storm Postpones Friday’s Red Sox-White Sox Contest

The series opener between the Red Sox and White Sox on Friday night has been postponed due to a "forecast for heavy rain and strong winds associated with Hurricane Earl," Boston team officials announced.

The game will be made up as part of a day-night doubleheader Saturday. The first game begins at 1:05 p.m. The second game remains a 7:10 p.m. start. Both games will air on NESN, beginning with Red Sox GameDay Live at 12 p.m.

Those with tickets for Friday's game can use them for the afternoon affair Saturday.

The rain and wind expected to pound the city Friday night will have vacated the area by Saturday afternoon. The forecast for the first half of the doubleheader calls for sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 70s.
