FOXBORO, Mass. — The Patriots got some good news Monday, as injured wide receiver Julian Edelman was spotted on the practice field, although he did not participate.

Edelman has a foot injury, according to multiple sources, and he hadn’t been spotted at practice since the Patriots were in Atlanta three weeks ago.

The second-year wideout stretched with the team before departing to work out in the Dana-Farber Field House. Yet, his presence indicated he has made progress in his recovery.

Tight end Aaron Hernandez also participated in practice for the first time in three weeks. He had been present and wearing a sleeve on his right knee during the practices he missed.

Running back Laurence Maroney, outside linebacker Jermaine Cunningham, defensive lineman Ron Brace, cornerback Kyle Arrington and offensive lineman Rich Ohrnberger were also present but did not participate. After stretching, they departed with Edelman.

Cornerback Terrence Wheatley and offensive linemen Nick Kaczur and Quinn Ojinnaka were missing entirely. Ojinnaka cannot practice with the team this week because of his league-mandated one-game suspension.
