Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen wants to stay in Chicago, but which Chicago team he works for is still up in the air.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Guillen would be willing to work for the Cubs if the White Sox let him go.
"My position was I would never sign another place and leave the White Sox for the Cubs because of the respect for [chairman Jerry Reinsdorf],” Guillen told the Chicago Tribune. “But if Jerry is leaving me? I'm not leaving them, they are leaving me.
"As soon as you get divorced, you are free to do whatever you want. Yes, I will, not because I say I'm going there, but because they don't want me. Before I say it, I'm not going to leave this place just to punch you guys in the nose. But if you don't want me and someone else wants me, I have to make the decision.”
Guillen is looking for a contract extension beyond his current terms, which ends in 2011 and includes a team option for 2012.
The White Sox are 82-72 this season, and currently 9 1/2 games out in the wild-card race.
In his seven seasons as White Sox manager, Guillen has amassed a 594-533 record. The former major league shortstop also has led the White Sox to two AL Central titles and a World Series crown in 2005.
