WILMINGTON, Mass. — The youngsters have taken center stage this week in Wilmington, with the Bruins holding their rookie camp at Ristuccia Arena.

But the veterans are getting in their work as well in preparation for the opening of the main camp on Friday. They continued their informal workouts Tuesday morning before the rookies took the ice, and rehabbing winger Marco Sturm addressed the media to provide an update on his recovery from offseason knee surgery.

Sturm indicated that he is progressing from the May surgery to reconstruct the ACL and repair the MCL, along with a partial meniscectomy in his right knee from the injury he suffered in the opening game of last spring's playoff series with Philadelphia.

"I'm doing good," said Sturm. "The knee's doing really good and I'm glad to be back to see everyone again. It's been a tough summer for me, too. So it's nice to get my routine back and work out here and see the guys."

While Sturm has been projected to return sometime in mid- to late November, he plans to take a conservative approach that could stretch the rehab process into later in the season.

"That's what the doctor says — six months — but the knee's going to tell me when I'm going to be ready," said Sturm of the potential November return date. "It could be December, too. I don't know. Obviously I want to be 100 percent. Whatever time it takes. It could be December, January — I don't care. I just want to make sure I'm going to be 100 percent."
