Longtime Patriots wide receiver Troy Brown will be honored by Marshall University and the National Football Foundation with an On-Campus Salute in celebration of his recent induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.
A First Team All-American in 1992, Brown will be presented with a plaque before the Thundering Herd play host to West Virginia on Friday, Sept. 10. Brown was the leading receiver on Marshall’s first-ever national championship team in 1992, and led all of Division I-AA in kickoff and punt return yardage in 1991. He was inducted into the Marshall Hall of Fame in 2002.
A key component to the Patriots’ Super Bowl winning teams in the 2000’s, Brown played 15 seasons for the Pats, and is the team’s all-time leader in receptions (557) and punt return yards (2,625). A 2001 Pro Bowl selection and five-time team captain, Brown announced his retirement shortly before the 2008 season.
Brown now serves as an NFL analyst for Comcast SportsNet.
