Miami Dolphins’ Injury Woes Rival Those in New England

The Patriots have had a pretty disastrous preseason. Losing Nick Kaczur, Leigh Bodden, and Ty Warren for the year — in addition to losing Derrick Burgess and Logan Mankins for more complicated reasons — has left the team thin at multiple positions.

It's not much better down in South Beach.

The Dolphins have been decimated on defense, losing both starting cornerbacks. Will Allen is out for the season with a torn ACL, and promising 2009 first-rounder Vontae Davis is limping around with an ankle injury. His status for Week 1 is unknown.

Another former first-round pick, Jason Allen, will take Will Allen's place. Jason Allen, drafted in 2006 out of Tennessee, has never quite lived up to his potential, but will now get a chance to prove his doubters wrong.

Star linebacker Channing Crowder did not practice Tuesday as he continues to be sidelined with an undisclosed injury, but he is hoping to play this Sunday at Buffalo.

He and star offensive lineman Jake Long spent practice on stationary bikes, reports the Miami Herald. Long injured his knee in the team's final preseason game this past week.

While the Dolphins have not lost as many players for the season as the Patriots, they surely are heading into the season with a number of critical question marks.
