Mike Lowell Feeling Good, Hoping to Finish Out Season

With only eight games left in the regular season, and a slim but still mathematically possible chance at the playoffs, the Red Sox roster consists of only two types of players: active players and players out for the rest of the year. Hopefully for Mike Lowell, he’ll be one of the former.

Lowell was hit in the face off a hop from Curtis Granderson’s bat on Friday. Terry Francona said that Lowell has no concussion-like symptoms and Lowell participated in batting practice on Saturday.

Lowell himself has said that he feels good and hopes to finish out his last season to the end.

Besides Lowell’s concussion scare, the injured list is still the same. Kevin Youkilis, Dustin Pedroia, Jacoby Ellsbury, Mike Cameron, Junichi Tazawa and Jarrod Saltalamacchia are all still out for the rest of the season.

Saltalamacchia said that he may have to have surgery on his injured thumb, but that he’ll be back to normal for spring training.
