FOXBORO, Mass. — Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss did not participate in Wednesday's practice due to an illness, according to the team's first practice report of the 2010 season.

It's the first time Moss has been absent for any workout witnessed by the media in 2010. He received a veteran's day off many Wednesdays in 2009, but the timing of this absence stuck out due to the comments he made Monday about feeling unwanted by the organization.

Cornerback Terrence Wheatley, who was still wearing a boot in the locker room, was also absent. Also missing were offensive linemen Nick Kaczur (back) and Quinn Ojinnaka (league suspension).

Outside linebacker Jermaine Cunningham (ankle) was in full pads for the first time since Aug. 11. Defensive lineman Ron Brace (ankle) and cornerback Kyle Arrington (groin) also returned to practice.

Wide receiver Julian Edelman and running back Laurence Maroney (thigh) did not practice, but they were present for stretching. The Patriots announced Edelman has a foot injury, confirming this week's NESN.com report.

Also listed on the injury report were quarterback Tom Brady (full participation, shoulder), defensive lineman Brandon Deaderick (full participation, toe), tight end Aaron Hernandez (full participation, knee), defensive lineman Myron Pryor (full participation, knee) and wide receiver Matthew Slater (full participation, hamstring).
