Report: CC Sabathia Doesn’t Think Victor Martinez Will Remain With Red Sox

Take this for what it's worth, but Yankees ace CC Sabathia doesn't think Victor Martinez will be a Red Sox beyond next weekend.

That's what Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman is reporting on Friday afternoon, anyway.

"CC Sabathia just said he doesn't think his good buddy Victor Martinez will be with Boston in '11," Heyman reported via Twitter.

Sabathia's opinion isn't exactly random though, as the two made a formidable battery in Cleveland, including Sabathia's Cy Young season in 2007. Martinez has actually caught Sabathia more than any other catcher, with 128 games behind the dish. The next closest are Einar Diaz (47) and Jorge Posada (35).

Sabathia has a 3.70 ERA and .255 opponents' batting average when pitching to Martinez, and while he could just be relaying his thoughts on the situation, he may also be posturing to bring his friend to the Bronx.
