Contrary to a report earlier Thursday, Dustin Pedroia is not planning on undergoing season-ending surgery on Friday.

“Dustin Pedroia told me he is not having surgery Friday,” NESN’s Heidi Watney reported via Twitter. “He will have a CT Scan and determine from there what to do.”

Earlier in the day, The Boston Globe reported that Pedroia was expected to have surgery to insert a screw in his left foot sometime Friday at Massachusetts General Hospital.

According to the Globe’s source, Pedroia was examined Wednesday night by MGH foot specialist Dr. George Theodore in Baltimore. Theodore, along with Red Sox team physician Dr. Thomas Gill, has cared for Pedroia throughout his foot injury, which has limited him to just 75 games this season.
