The situation may be pretty bleak for NFL employees if a lockout does in fact come to pass.
The NFL has informed its employees of its three-part contingency plan beginning in April, should a lockout occur, reports NBCSports.com
First, Roger Goodell and other top-level executives would take pay-cuts. A few months thereafter, most employees would be forced to take two "unpaid furloughs," and phase three would involve broader salary freezes and large-scale pay cuts.
"Our employees are aware of both of the strident comments coming from
the NFLPA leadership for more than a year and the union's current
actions to position itself to decertify and go out of business," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello
said.
"Our employees want to know what we would do if despite our best
good-faith efforts, no agreement is reached. Our primary focus remains
on negotiating a new agreement," he explained.
