While the Yankees have been scuffling as of late, first baseman Mark Teixeira has been playing through pain.

Teixeira revealed before Tuesday night's game in Tampa that he's been playing the past two weeks with a broken little toe on his right foot according to various reports.

The first baseman fouled a pitch off of his foot on Aug. 31 and has been playing through it ever since.

"He's been playing with it for two weeks," Yankees manager Joe Girardi told ESPN.com. "You can't do much for broken toes, that's the thing."

Teixeira, who is hitting only .209 since the injury, says that the broken toe is bothering him constantly.

"Every step I take it stings," he told the New York Post. "It's worse on defense because I have to move side to side and shuffle.

"I can’t work out a lot, I am taking less ground balls and less swings in the cage," the two-time All-star added.

Teixeira has yet to miss a game since the injury, a 12-game stretch in which the Yankees have gone just 5-7.
