Sunday brought mixed news for Rams fans and bad news for fantasy football players, as running back Steven Jackson was forced to leave the Rams’ game against the Redskins with a groin injury.
The Rams beat the ‘Skins 30-16, earning their first win of the 2010 season. But losing Jackson for an extended period of time would make it a truly Pyrrhic victory for the rebuilding St. Louis squad.
Jackson was having another solid game before his injury, scoring a rushing touchdown as well as running for 58 yards on 10 carries.
But with around four minutes remaining in the first half, several tacklers converged on Jackson after a 2-yard gain. The ball came out and was originally ruled a fumble, but Jackson was later ruled down.
Jackson remained on the field while the play was under review before eventually limping to the sidelines and then heading for the locker room. Jackson walked off on his own power, but was obviously in pain and did not return.
The Rams announced on their official Twitter page that they are "fairly" certain Jackson’s groin is not torn, and that he will receive an MRI on Monday.
Rams safety O.J. Atogwe was also injured during the game, with what the team has announced as a thigh injury. Atogwe was injured in the second half and also did not return.
