Packers running back Ryan Grant's season is over after tearing ligaments in his ankle during Sunday's game in Philadelphia,

Team officials initially hoped that Grant only had a sprained his ankle, but according to FOXSports.com, the injury is far worse, and Grant was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.

Grant rushed for 45 yards in the Packers 27-20 win before an Eagles defenseman landed on his ankle causing the injury.

Brandon Jackson will now take over as Green Bay’s starter after running for 63 yards on 18 carries on Sunday.

"I've been waiting for this moment for a long time," Jackson told the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "God forbid what happened to R.G. God bless him and wish him a speedy recovery, but it's my opportunity now once again to come in and carry this team in the running game."

The Packers are ready to persevere.

"I feel Brandon Jackson carried the load [on Sunday]," coach Mike McCarthy told reporters. "I think there’s a lot of evidence right there, recent evidence that he’s able to play all three downs, and he will have that opportunity this week versus Buffalo."
