Test Your Knowledge About Bruins Arenas

The Boston Garden will be remembered as one of the nation’s most beloved arenas, but what many hockey fans tend to forget is that it wasn’t the original home of the Bruins.

That’s right, the Black and Gold actually played their first four seasons at a different rink before moving to the famous Boston Garden for the 1928-29 season.

After moving in, they went on to play eight decades from the ’20s to the ’90s at the old Garden until 1995 and then moved to the Fleet Center, now known as the TD Garden. This first arena was renamed Matthews Arena in 1982 and today is a multipurpose facility that is home to Northeastern men’s and women’s hockey.
