Test Your Knowledge About Celtics Head Coaches From Red Auerbach to Tommy Heinsohn, the Boston Celtics' organization has been blessed with some of the game's greatest head coaches.

But, like every other team out there, the club has also seen some forgettable skippers come and go.

Since Auerbach took control of the pine in 1950, only five C's skippers have finished their Celtics coaching career with sub-.500 records. Tom "Satch" Sanders went 23-39 in his brief stint in 1978. Dave Cowens wasn't much better when he took over for Sanders as he went just 27-41. M.L. Carr went 48-116 as head coach from 1995-1997 while his replacement, Rick Pitino, went 102-146 from 1997-2001.

This coach, the fifth and final to post a sub-.500 winning percentage as Celtics head coach, went 14-22 in 36 games for the Celtics in 2004 after replacing Jim O’Brien
