San Diego Padres star first baseman Adrian Gonzalez will undergo surgery on his non-throwing shoulder on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.

Gonzalez, a two-time Gold Glove Award winner, will have a procedure to clean up the labrum in his right shoulder. He is expected to be ready for the start of spring training.

The 28-year-old Gonzalez hit .298 with 31 home runs and 101 RBIs in 2010. He has been linked to trade rumors involving the Red Sox for quite some time, including a recent report which suggested that Boston would have to offer multiple top prospects, in addition to Jacoby Ellsbury, if it wanted to acquire Gonzalez.
