Are 2010 Yankees Better Than 2009 Yankees? It’s hard to outdo a World Championship ballclub. That is, unless you repeat in a more impressive fashion.

The 2009 New York Yankees had a dream season, their first in their new ballpark.

New York won the AL East by winning 103 games and advanced to the World Series by sweeping the Twins in the ALDS and beating the Angels in six games in the ALCS.

In the Fall Classic, the Yankees won a hard-fought battle against the defending World Series champion Philadelphia Phillies in six games, overcoming two victories from Philly’s ace left-hander, Cliff Lee.

This year, things haven’t been so smooth for the Bronx Bombers. A myriad of injuries and inconsistency at starting pitching has had the Yankees fighting all year for a playoff spot. It wasn’t until Tuesday night that the Yankees finally eliminated the Red Sox from the wild-card race and clinched a spot in the postseason.

It’s hard to compare the 2010 Yankees to the 2009 Yankees. Last year’s team has been compared to some of the greatest in franchise history.

Can this year’s team possibly top the 2009 squad?
