The Patriots’ coach went on the “Dennis and Callahan” show on WEEI on Tuesday morning following his team’s whopping 41-14 victory over the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football, and had nothing but good things to say about the effort he saw from his men the night before.
“It was very satisfying for me as a coach to see our team have that kind of success after they worked so hard at it in practice and talking about it at meetings and so forth,” Belichick said. “I was happy for them. They deserved it, because they went out and played a good football game — against a good football team.”
Coach Belichick also didn’t hesitate to defend wide receiver Randy Moss, who caught zero balls on Monday night.
“I think that’s the way it turns out sometimes, sometimes certain players, in some games, get more opportunities than others,” Belichick said of Moss’s lack of receptions.
The coach was also especially pleased with linebacker Rob Ninkovich, who had two interceptions in the game.
“I think Rob just did a good job of reading the quarterback, getting a good break on the ball and showed good hands,” Belichick said. “Both of those catches were tough catches, away from his body and it was not like the ball was just right between the five and the zero. He had to make good adjustments on those plays and he did.”
The Patriots have a Week 5 bye then return home to Gillette Stadium to face the Ravens in Week 6 on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m.
