It should come as no surprise that Bill Simmons believes that the Boston Celtics will win the East. His pessismism about Miami, however, may be somewhat unexpected.
While Simmons has been an outspoken critic of LeBron James' "Decision" and the coming together of the "Three Kings," it's hard to believe that the Heat will be anything but dominant.
Still, "I think there's a much better chance that it's dicey than everything goes fantastic," Simmons said on WEEI's Dennis and Callahan Show Tuesday morning.
His rationale was that the team will suffer from issues of chemistry, particularly LeBron and Chris Bosh.
"It's really hard for me to believe that [Lebron]'s going to be fine turning it over to [Dwayne] Wade," he said. "This is a guy [James] who released a two-minute, five-second Nike commercial."
As for Bosh, Simmons said he wonders if the forward really escaped anonymity by moving from Toronto to Miami.
"Bosh is like George Harrison now. Nobody talks about him," Simmons remarked. "Part of me wonders if he's going to be all right with this arrangement, too."
As for the Celtics, he said he believes that the team will excel — principally because of the new depth. He'es been especially impressed with Delonte West and Shaquille O'Neal.
"I've got to say, I was shocked at how good Delonte was in the preseason. … I think he's back to where he was, from what I saw," he said.
On the subject of Tuesday's season opener, Simmons was sure of one thing: "Is there any doubt Eddie House is going to have a good game?"
