Legendary sports commentator Bob Costas will be hosting Boston College’s first ever "Ice Jam" on Oct. 26.

BC’s men’s and women’s ice hockey and basketball teams will be participating in a series of events, which Costas will moderate.

The Conte Forum will be transformed into a half-court/half-ice rink, so that players will be competing in their natural environments.

"We are very excited to bring college basketball and hockey fans together inside of Conte Forum to experience an event like no other," BC's director of athletics, Gene DeFilippo, said. "This will be a great opportunity for the students, alumni and fans of Boston College to get to know our players and coaches on a more personal level and to get them excited for another action-packed winter season."

The athletics department has yet to specify what kind of activities the players will be participating in.

Admission to "Ice Jam" is free, and the college promises special guest appearances and free sample giveaways by BC’s corporate sponsors.

Doors to the Conte Forum open at 7 p.m.
