Oh, how the mighty all-American man has fallen.

Throughout the first five weeks of the season, you couldn’t watch an NFL game without seeing a Wrangler Jeans television commercial featuring Brett Favre. In Week 6, however, Favre’s commercials were noticeably absent from the NFL airwaves, according to a report by CNBC.

As the NFL continues to investigate the Brett Favre-Jenn Sterger text message situation, Wrangler has halted the rotation of their Favre commercials on NFL-affiliated broadcasts. They were substituted instead for the spot that features NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr.

In a report by Front Row Analytics, the Favre-Wrangler commercial ran a total of 10 times on Sunday, but not on any NFL broadcast stations. Instead, they were seen on niche channels such as Versus, FX and Speed.

“No brand wants to be embroiled in a controversy of such a personal nature,” said Eric Smallwood, vice president of product management for Front Row. “It’s best for the brand to have a limited brand affiliation with the athlete until the outcome is known.”

Despite the limited TV rotation, the Favre advertisement is still the background of the Wrangler U.S. homepage.
