That was the message that met Bruins legend Milt Schmidt as he walked out to center ice during a ceremony in his honor. Schmidt is a former Bruins player, coach and general manager and was honored with his own exhibit in the New England Sports Museum on Thursday.
Schmidt won four Stanley Cups during his tenure with the Bruins and won the Hart Trophy in 1951. Needless to say, Schmidt is the epitome of the ultimate Bruin, and has brought several accomplishments to Bruins fans throughout his 75 years in the game.
“There’s not a better game in the world than hockey,” Schmidt said. “That’s the only way I can put it.”
The touching pregame ceremony featured a slideshow of Schmidt through the years, in addition to former teammates and players (including B’s legend Bobby Orr) discussing his passion and dedication to the game.
