Calgary Flames defenseman Ian White is a lucky guy.

White took a puck to the face in Saturday’s game against the Edmonton Oilers, and the puck deflected into his own goal and put the Oilers up 2-1.

Edmonton’s Dustin Penner shot the puck up high near the net, hitting White above the eye and deflecting the puck behind goalie Miika Kiprusoff.

Fortunately for White, the Flames came back to win it 5-3 and he was only off the ice long enough to get six stitches.

“I didn’t even know it went in, but I’ll be feeling it for a couple of days,” White told the Toronto Sun. “It’s awful, but what can you do? You take one in the face, and I think you at least get a blocked shot for it, but they end up scoring.”
