Carlos Boozer underwent successful surgery on Tuesday to fix his broken pinkie.
The Chicago Bulls’ biggest free-agent acquisition tripped over a bag in his home on Saturday and likely will miss six to eight weeks. Luckily, the surgery went well enough that Boozer had full control of his other fingers and managed to send out a tweet.
“Had a successful surgery this morning,” the All-Star forward said via Twitter. “Now gonna attack my rehab.”
Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau is optimistic about Boozer’s recovery, ESPN.com reports.
“From what we heard, it [the surgery] went well,” Thibodeau told ESPN.com. “So we’re encouraged by that, and now it’s just a matter him going through his rehab.”
The Bulls open their season on Oct. 27 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but Boozer won’t join the team until late November or early December, possibly in time for their matchup against the Celtics on Dec. 3.
